November 2021

Now that lockdown is over it is time to get back to the new. Aww. I'm horrible at waking up early but one must try and get back into the habit. Setting up multiple alarms. Ha.

Sadly many people are still in disbelief that they had to be vaccinated to go about their normal daily social activity. I hate to break it to them but life is nowhere near normal. This is what life is like in Victoria, Australia and if you cannot handle it, then why are you still here? Other people have already moved interstate after lockdown number 2 in the year 2020.

My sister and I are planning our day trips around Victoria as part of mini staycation week in December. Yay. We are on the road again.

Work

My colleagues and I have started returning back to working onsite. Only a small amount of patrons ask why they must be double vaccinated in order to come in to view collection materials.

Finally, we managed to do some onsite training. Two years later. It is fascinating to see collection from a librarian perspective compared to a library technician's point of view.

PoGo

Amazingly enough, I was able to score duo trade hundo from my friend. Woo hoo. Task hundo not so much. No luck with wild hundo either. lol. One aspect of the game that consumes the most energy is pvp, and I haven't had done many pvp battles due to the fact I need more time to rest and recover from relationship frustrations and desk shifts. As adult duties are a top priority. I hope to find a balance someday, but so far, none to date.

Niantic has temporarily erected and taken down some new gyms in the game. Odd. But nothing we can do about it.

Dating

I have broken up with my boyfriend of 9 months. One night I was stood up for a dinner date. Why did he "stood me up" you ask? His excuse was he was too tired from weekend work. This was never the case in the last 8 months until now.

This is the first time I have ever had a boyfriend who would:
  • emotionally threaten me;
  • call me names when he is bored;
  • accuses me of things for the fun of it;
  • stood me up;
  • and wants to cheat on me.
All I ever did was be myself. Wowza.

October 2021

The numbers of the COVID infected people continue to rise into the 1000s in Victoria, Australia, despite we are in a tight lockdown mode. I really do not think people know they have it until they get tested. Long live the take away life style. As for landfill, build them up, buttercup.

Work

Steady on. Working on research guide materials and blog post. Rehearsing my voice for long oral reads and working on a contingency plan when  there is a technical issue.

PoGo

Many of the player community are feeling frustrated by challenging tasks. With many having to WFH, the lack of spawns in the suburbs makes it very difficult for players to complete such collection tasks.

Oh, this Halloween event has been amazing. I managed to get a home shiny Halloween costume Pikachu and a hundo in the same weekend. I feel so blessed. Same goes for the Halloween costume Piplup too (x3 hundo). Then I got a task hundo Galarian Yamask. Who woulda thought. Me? Woo hoo. Meanwhile, I was not lucky with getting a hundo legendary Alter forme Giratina or Darkrai.

With the lockdown in Melbourne over and some ease of restrictions, I had the pleasure to catch up with a few friends in-person in the city. It feels so refreshing to hear people's stories and how they endured the lockdown. Their perspective were different and an eye opener.

Date

Lately, whenever I suggest or say stuff, it is met with doubt. We no longer seem to be able to plan our days together, since that Saturday at Williamstown, he has grown moody. My plans so far have been overridden by the following:
  • tiredness
  • complained about distance
  • insisted on dating at home (no/lockdown)
  • Often I'd end up watching Netflix on my lonesome for hours (while he'd take a shower and nap).
Also, I find that I am talking to myself as he would rapid go into space when we go for a stroll. No eye contact whatsoever, and somehow his ex-something something popped up in our conversation. Worst yet, instead of alleviating a person’s pain with laughter or distraction, he'd point out how my skin lesion has been an issue for him. I am fast coming to the realisation he is emotionally unavailable. I cannot form a relationship with him.

Also, I don’t want to waste my life with someone who has:
  • no common courtesy
  • no sense of adventure
  • no romance

September 03, 2021

September 2021

More cases by the day, more news of lockdown extended. Even the new norm lifestyle does not stand a chance of taking off.

Work

I am now doing a few more presentations in Zoom than I have in my previous career. I would say there is a fair bit of rehearsal and set-up required. I failed to test slides for any inconsistencies, especially when another colleague created them. My Bad.

PoGo

This month events and field research in Pokemon Go is insipid. The field research ought to be less resource-intensive and time-consuming, given we only have 3 hours of exercise each day. Niantic still has not set up bulk delete, and bulk sends gifts.

Dating

I helped cut short my boyfriend’s hair, and he liked it. So cool when people develop trust in your abilities. ======

August 01, 2021

August 2021

The sun would peek through the clouds at times, but winds are still icy cold. Your standard gear at the minimum is a jacket, beanie, scarf, gloves, and a mask. A mask not for robbing a bank, but to reduce the chance of spreading or catching COVID.  People who are most infectious don't even know they have COVID. Less and less show up with no symptoms. In Victoria, we wear masks outdoors and indoors until we get to our own home. The Delta variant of COVID is highly contagious than the original and so we all have to be super cautious than ever.

The number of cases has started to surge again, and it does not look as if it would descend anytime soon despite plenty of people have booked in to receive the vaccine.

The strict lockdown has put a strain on local businesses and the entertainment industry. So many companies have packed up and left Victoria. Shopfronts with labels “for lease” can be seen across the main streets of suburbs. The only glimmer of hope was a few new pop-up shops giving us a little bit of delight.

Work

The deployment of the new print system failed to do sand box testing and just went live with features incomplete or not ready for use. The training was somewhat unbalanced.

WFH meant we had no access to the physical collection. This has been the case for the last 200 days. Patrons aren't aware of this fact. How could they the lockdown comes with several different rules each time. However, it challenges you to recall what was the collection like before the lockdown and be able to describe how to access to it.

Pogo

I am not grinding as hard as I once did. I find, I am pausing a lot more to let my brain think and calm down. Also, to let other activities take priority for once.

Dating

I am learning to pick up on abnormal behaviour and raise matters quickly with my partner.  Sadly, it takes a great deal of tolerance to endure immature behaviour.

With lockdown being extended several times, we have being cooking at home more, and together.

July 08, 2021

July 2021

We are beginning to see some stability and onto Victoria's 5th lockdown. This time it is not segregated by metropolitan and regional, rather state wide. The NSW government and community was very slow in clamping down their spread of virus. The vaccine roll out was done poorly across the country.

Work

I am learning to deliver "just right" amount of information. Such as a patron may only want to know which databases to use and not want the answer to their research question. Or they want you to demonstrate how to load a microfilm reel and not which resources to use when looking up sporting events. I feel I am developing a better grasp of patron's level of information needs.

PoGo

To throw a fast ball from the berry side is not as efficient as throwing from the ball side and in AR mode. Something to practice. Interesting. But difficult.

Jazz gave me an 1 up tip when it comes to T3 raids. When sending a T3 raid invite to a friend that can be solo'd, it is best to open up the lobby to the public, then a "rando" player can join them in defeating the T3 raid boss, thus making the raid go by much quicker. Yay! I learnt another thing. I can't wait to do better as a raid host.

Go Fest was impacted by the snap lockdown and rain. I managed to bump into some friends and I had a few good laughs. It felt good. There is something refreshing about hearing different voices and talking about other things besides COVID.

I find it is better to raid for XL than to convert actual candies for XL.

Dating

My so called boyfriend doesn't initiate conversation at dinners or video chat. He really doesn't like sharing his thoughts with me. How peculiar. And when he does have a conversation with me. It is about my previous relationships or he'd go on to accuses me: not wanting a long term relationship, tricking him to go on day trips, and not wanting to spend more time with him (to just watch the telly). What a very strange bloke. Even more weirder is he does not want to be part of my family yet accuses me of NOT wanting to introduce my family members to him. Ahhh...this constant bickering is most unhealthy.

I told him to take a break from us and to do some thinking.

June 02, 2021

June 2021

Lockdown number four in Melbourne has took place. Everyone back to WFH and some businesses taking another pounding. Depression ensues for some people.

Ground hog day is always annoying, but you gotta make each day worth it.

I feel for businesses and Victorian tourism during lockdown, they are enduring major hardship and great uncertainty. When they eased some of the restrictions after the two weeks of snap lockdown, my sister and I went dining at our favourite restaurants.

Work

We plan to develop a more robust service model for the future.

PoGo

There has been an update to raids, we now have stadium with audience, and more bragging status based on our ability to attack the raid boss.

Dating

I have learnt some people different mannerism. Not all people know how to wish people get well when you are sick. They lack compassion and unwilling to console other people during times of need. Which made me realise, maybe this person lacks romantic skill set, and so, I will need to lead by example.

I read him poetry and sourced a poetry for my boyfriend to read back to me. He found this very interesting. We now trying known romantic ways.

May 04, 2021

May 2020

Steady as she goes. Nearly half way through the year, and so much of my world has changed. COVID situation feels calm at times and erratic at other times. Currently, navigating the waters in being a co-presenter in a Zoom webinar and being a girlfriend (of a few months).

Work

I have few draft blog posts written up, but they are too historical focused and need to be more rounded with an audience in mind. My team leader suggested I start with collection spotlight type of blog post. So, that's my goal for the month. I will write better and be more contextual. So the content would be of use to the reader.

One of my original work team mates died on the 20th May 2021. So, there will be no more morning tea gatherings for us. At the same time it is all too surreal, as we last heard she was on chemo therapy then we received news she was put into palliative care. Can chemo put your body into a state of shock? My last message to her was a happy birthday wish. At least, she manage to see most of her children get married and celebrate one last birthday.

Dating

It has been a month now. We are now in the territory of cooking at home and juggling returning back to office schedules. Colder weather coming up fast. There might be a chance cabin fever might set in. Hopefully a spicy noodle challenge and Twister nights will keep us entertained.

My boyfriend had a motorcycle accident and broke his hand during lockdown number four.

PoGo

I was rewarded with a hundo and a new legendary from the first week's dinner raid hour. Yay! So pretty. Xerneas

I am learning pokemon with duo typing major weakness is their second typing. Say they are dark and flying like Yveltal, the flying type neutralises fighting-bug-fairy attacks

April 04, 2021

April 2021

It is the season to be eating up chocolate. lol. Life continues to be full of complexities. Openly discussing matters does not help people who are unwilling to listen and grow. Some people prefer you keep things quiet and not mention things. Adults preference for secrecy annoys me to no end.

Work

I am learning to be a co-presenter on Zoom webinar. The most difficult part is reading your notes and looking natural. Which I will be doing rehearsals until I get nerves to calm down. I have wrote two blogs for the team but it needs re-work to give it a family history spin.

Dating

My boyfriend and I are learning to schedule time to be together. We are working on finding activities that we both enjoy and would fits into the working week. It is a work in process. He has passed on a free dance lesson. Hmm...

Dinner challenge

Whenever we have a meal together, he would sit there in silence, then asks, “what’s the matter?” while I am chewing on my food. It is his way of indicating - please entertain me. I’d reply “nothing is wrong” and try to come up with a topic. I now understand what it is like to be Robin Williams. Even during your time off, you are still on the clock. So entertain away.

A real partner would want to naturally share his day, interest, or adventure with you during meal time. Or at least, ask you about you something or share something you would like? Such as they found a movie you might want to see or a food festival.

It makes me wonder, who does the talking when he dines with other people.

Always trying to be correct

When we do talk, he would say I am Googling the topic or dropping a bombshell, when much of the topic I present are common knowledge amongst adults. For example, KitKat is a chocolate a bar; you can hit a hole in one on a golf course; in Chinese tradition, to meet your boyfriend or girlfriends parents is to express wanting to marry them.

I am beginning to see there are gaps in his knowledge and I came from the state school eduction system. However, I will do my best to teach him to fish, so that he can fish in the future, as I have with patrons.

Our first day trip together

By the way, the best way to Daylesford is the western free way and go north. Less windy of a road. We were unable to find a bathrobe or lavender wine in the town centre. Will Ventura out to further places in the future in seek of souvenirs. The mineral spring water quite unique. Less bubbly in comparison to European mineral water.

PoGo

I working towards putting it aside when I am on dates, then go ham on days when I am not dating or have morning meetings/shifts. One has to manage their energy and learn to put priority elsewhere.

March 18, 2021

March 2021

Autumn has sure come fast. Time for staycation! I am off to Ballarat for the first time in my life. Hooray! What an adventure. I could not choose a better time to visit the city. As there is a Begona festival on. Talk about good timing.

Work

I still have a long way to finding reference websites with art information. Such as the last price of a piece of art. A few of my colleague challenge me to find resources for them. I gladly accepted it and I hope to hone this set of skills soon enough. Proving to be challenging, as art can be sold privately. Ouch.

PoGo

I have reached level 50. However, I feel a bit inadequate in using my time effectively. I will set my next goal is to catch more than 200 pokemon per hour.

Dating

I had four potential candidates at the start of February, but at the end of the month, none of them has asked me out on a date. They kept twiddling their thumbs by never saying hello or ask me personal questions. They just request we move the conversation from the prying eyes of the dating app platform to WhatsApp - only to do nothing. Four weeks of nothing. No conversation whatsoever! Whenever I had asked a question or made suggested an activity they guys would shut down the conversation. Bewildering. Some would even get darkly when I asked why. Spaz. So, I deleted them all.

I need to learn to do the following at a much quicker pace:
  • drop guys that ghost me.
  • drop guys who show no interest in me as a person.
  • drop guys who persist on Netflix date for date zero.
  • drop guys who refuse to meet in a public place for date zero.

Overall, I learned in all areas of life you can apply the scaffolding method for developing skills.

Just as I ditched two guys, another guy messages me from CMB, and we started to talk about food and day trips. Next thing you know we went on dates, hung around beaches and botanical gardens, and talking about going steady. This one is serious about forming a relationship. It is quite a refreshing change alright.

======

Near the visitor information centre was an old organ and it plays music every hour. How rad.

The Sovereign Hill (living museum) was very interactive and informative. We learned to make ropes. Look for gold. Feel the intense heat from melting gold demonstration and touching the gold block after it was cooled down. What an experience. We hung around noon to watch a short parade and salute shoot.

The begonia festival was placid but interesting, as we have never seen such flowers before. There were so many types ad shades. It was gorgeous. We were lucky to blessed with such warm weather.

The animal sanctuary was fun. We got to pat numerous kangaroos without a time limit. I highly recommend it.

Ballarat has an old town section and a newer town section followed by a shopping centre past the botanic garden. Quite a big suburb. Lots of wide streets. Not a whole lot of ice cream shops to choose from but a fair few bakeries you can check out. The main attractions were in a walking distance for us.

February 03, 2021

February 2021

This month has been glorious. The sun is shining and I get to meet up with friends and starting to communicate with people I have not heard from for a while.

Work

We are getting adjusted to random short lockdown periods and still run our service.

Pogo

I am elearning to do excellent curve throw on various mons using three different techniques. When are catching pidgey you throw lightly from the corner of the screen. When you are catching Trubblish, again you start from the corner of the screen but this time you aim to release the ball towards the far right of the screen. When you try to catch Sentret you throw a bit off from the centre and the ball straight up and drop back to the left. My aim this month is to complete 999 excellent curve throws to reach level 50. Hee hee. It is quite the challenge for someone like me, as I rarely manually catch unless there is an event pokemon around.

Dating

I am back on the market looking for a man that is keen to meet up, and to try new things. The heart feels lighter and relived to not having to entertain an emotionally unavailable man. Also, I am learning not waste time on guys who shut down topics brought to the conversation and those express little or no interest in me and what I am about. These are time wasters and bookmarking chicks just in case the hotter one rejects them. I am not going to be anyone's safety (back up) date.

The apps give men leeway too much. These guys don't ask you any questions or willing to start a conversation in dating apps, they just click things such as like (Bumble, Coffee Meets Bagel, Plenty of Fish),  smile (eHarmony), and request a personal message (eHarmony). They are by far the lazyist interactions on planet Earth.

January 01, 2021

January 2021

I am hopeful for this year. I can't wait to see Melbourne regain prosperity and more employment opportunity available for friends and families who were made redundant by the lockdown. Meanwhile, I understand travel will be limited to local area as the vaccine for COVID-19 is slowly being rolled out across the globe. I am fine with staycation. There are so many places I have never been to and I am sure not a McStingy. The ever changing government regulations does not scare me. I am happy to oblige and keep the community safe. Besides I only book with companies who respect government regulations as well and are willing to arrange refunds on bookings. Smart cookie I am.

Work

Recently, I have been given the opportunity to shadow others on the NFHRR desk, and by February I will go live. Woo Hoo. This shows management has faith ad trust in me. It is an honour to be allowed to reach this point in my new role as a librarian.

Pokemon Go

On the four days that I had time off work, I caught a hundo for each event pokemon except for Cryogonal. The weather was dreary during those four days and I had to do many tram runs to avoid catching a cold. A few homeless females would walk up to me and raised their voice while I was playing PoGo. I ignored them. It was good to catch up with many of my friends at mapped hundo locations. There we got the chance to laugh about the dramas that took place in December 2020.

Online dating

I have found myself a new date around the end of last year. The difference is this one is a single dad. And, oh boy was this one troublesome. Not only was he emotionally not available, he does not follow standard dating protocols. Often he would cry foul in WhatsApp, saying you are not being loving yet he was dating multiple women. When I made dating activities suggestions and he'd get angry. I have since stopped dating him after 5 dates (and five weeks of texting in WhatsApp app). It is not my problem if you cannot juggle the ladies, I just want to be woo'd. No dates, no deal mate.

December 24, 2020

December 2020

What did we learn this month?

People are picky and it is their right to choose who they wish to associate with. Then why can't people respect such a simple fact in the player community and online dating pool?

Pokemon Go

At the beginning of the month, I had a player bagger me to come back to their chat group. He messaged me profusely and rang me a few times too, even while I was a resort during my staycation. Pokemon Go app is a game, why must you urgently need to form a group during the lockdown, and especially when it is so close to the end of the year? When people are winding down for the end and started planning events around family members.

On Saturday after the community day hours had ended, I bid my goodbye to this particular individual as I am off to see another friend, and he threw a tantrum in Southbank. Declaring he feels rejected, ostracized, and discriminated against. I explained there is no such thing taking place, my other friend is just not comfortable with a busking individual singing in her face and she would like to have a personal chat with me alone. In-person, he pretended to accept my statement. When I repeated it in a text message to him, he called "toxic" and talking "shit" for saying, you cannot demand instant friends from just befriending one person in the community of players.

Online dating

In the world of online dating, I have come to accept that I was never going to fit everyone's version of a dream babe. So, when people stop messaging me back, I am guessing people have found someone else to chat with and therefore I would delete them. Only a handful accepted and respected my choice to not continue with the chat, but some would get grouchy and start blurting mean statements. Whether I reply or not.

Then there are guys who say they are keen as mustard, schedules a time to meet up, then declines a day before and doesn't re-schedule or promise to schedule until days later. Highly suspicious if you ask me. It seems they were waiting for another chick to say yes, and if she says no, then I am some sort of fall back choice. I have deleted them. If I am not your priority now, then I will never be in the future.

Staycation

Cape Schanck is a car-based location. No public transportation nearby. No biking path either. The trails nearby are beautiful. Also, the RACV Cape Schanck  resort was delightful, comfortable, and the staff were professional. I loved the vitality pool.

Day one

Bro and mom joined us for lunch. We proceeded to drive to the lighthouse but you cannot reach it from the resort. The gates are locked. We drove back to the main street and found another road that leads to the lighthouse. Unfortunately, the place was closed until the 19th December. It rained a fair bit and the wind was fierce. We still went to the look out point. Ahh. The salty air. Whiffing that stuff in. The sun comes out for a moment to caresses you ever so gently and then back to the wind whipping your hair around while you are trying to take a family photograph.

We then drove to the Cape Schanck board walk. There we walked down to the pebble beach and the sun came out. Boo. No much creatures to be seen, but the waves were wild from the Bass Strait. One beach had jagged rocks and the other pebble beach had smooth rounded rocks. I wonder why. As we walked back the carpark the sky went grey and the wind started blowing fiercely at us. Oof. Was it hard to breathe. Mom had to stop a few times. We acted as shields so she get her breath back.

We wanted to see the rock pool but there is road to drive it. It was blocked by private property. Bro drove to the entrance to one of the many trail in Mornington Penisula National Park. From there my sister and I went on a trek and a very long one. We could not see the rock pool from this height. Instead we saw kangaroos, fox, and lorikeets. Which was delightful. When we got to the end of the trail there was a sign post stating is another long walk to get to the beach. By then my sister was tired. Surprised bro followed us and ask, so what we find. I said a hill top at the moment, but I believe the rock pool is at the other tail end of the beach. My sister doesn't think so, and requested we go back to the car. Bro was getting tired too and dropped us back the resort, while he drove mom back home.

My sister and I had two pizzas that night. We sussed out the recreation areas of the resort. Tiny but it will suffice.

Day two

The weather was better today. We had a big breakfast and we had to move the spa session one hour later as we had digest our brekkie. The spa was magnificent. My feet and skin enjoyed it very much. It feels like my feet got exfoliated without being scrubbed. I found it to be relaxing. After the spa we took a nap and woke up to a cheese platter lunch. It was delicious. Then I went out to play a round of golf driving range and we played table tennis in the recreation room. For dinner we had the $8 harsh brown which was very shredded and tiny on a decorative gold plate. Ouchie! What an experience.

Day three

Bro and dad dropped by to take us to Bushranger's Bay to look at the beach and rock pool area. It was pretty steep to go down the stairs to reach the beach. The rock pool had lots of shells everywhere. Not exactly safe to swim it. After the long walk back, we decided to have lunch in Rosebud and ice cream in Sorrento. We went for a short walk at London Bridge. Overall, a nice short get away.

November 2020

As they say life goes on.

While the corona virus is still spreading like wild fire across the globe, we all have to get accustom to imposed lockdown restrictions, but some people refuse to accept them, and started to blame immediate circles for the imposition. Hey, feelings are our own grow up, we all have to adjust, so get with the program and reset what makes you happy, for crying out just set new routine and goals. Duh.

I now own five masks and I have developed rash around my cheeks from prolonged wear. To adjust I need apply lubrication on my face, use a more gentler facial cleanser, and start to wash my masks more frequently.

Work

I get to participate in an online talk about how do family history research right after Melbourne Cup day.

PoGo

The Halloween event was a blast as always. The costumes on Sableye and Gengar was well designed and cute. So much so, many of us tried to get a shiny version of it. What a challenge. I did hit a milestone of having caught 400,000 pokemon. Quite an achievement despite slowed down by the lockdown restrictions. Haha.

Dating

I have moved on from guy number one, since he dislike everything I liked and enjoyed. I cannot see future with someone who has no interest in me and does not respect my opinion, yet message me heaps. I know, loneliness is a result of this lockdown, however, it is a poor excuse to preoccupy someone's time. I want to date and find long term partner, not a chatting buddy, I have friends for that and they do not shit me or blame me for the lockdown.

Back to the scratch board I go.

========

October 03, 2020

October 2020

It feels as if time has stood still. It has been a while since I last hung out with people to play Pokemon Go. Playing solo has been okay. The walks within the 5 km bubble are not all that bad. The trees would sway, and the flowers would release the scent into the air. On the odd occasion, I would come to encounter a cat, a dog, or a bird. I have found an Italian bakery, a pop-up ice cream shop in a warehouse, and a few parks I would never visit when working in the city.

Work

My days are filled with two to six Zoom meetings a day. I would monitor several communication platforms. Also, I am part of four working groups.

PoGo

I think, I went a bit over with the remote raids, but I am learning how convenient it is to reach raids from a distance, sometimes you just cannot get to raid before it hatches. I will attempt to master raiding while on a tram ride before the lockdown is over.

I am learning to create strings on notepad for quicker means of distributing invites and host raids for others.

I still need to chalk up my skills to catch more than 100 pokemon in an hour.

Dating

Oh. Man. I took it upon myself to try online dating during COVID-19 pandemic. I started with Plenty of Fish (POF,) and uploading a photograph was a painful process. In the meantime, I sent off four messages, and I got one reply the next day. My pic was still not accepted at this time. There was no need for in-app currency to connect or to send someone a message. Mr M. and I chatted none stop for two days.

Then one blasted evening, I was booted off the platform. POF called me a bot and stated I had abused their community (of men). All I did was reject a few men. It infuriated me, and so I posted it on Twitter under #Fail. A very laughable moment indeed. I had to tell my friends about my so-called misdemeanour. In that space of time, I signed up to Coffee meets Bagel.

It took POF three days to apologise and sort it out. Unfortunately, the account was 100% deleted, but they allow me to use my original email to sign up once more. From there, I reconnected with Mr M, and he wondered where I had gone. He laughed at my situation and suggested I vary my rejection style. I delete messages now. Mr M and I have since taken our chat session to FB messenger just in case I get BANNED from dating app again. Haha.

A quick overview:
  • Most men were looking for hooks up and desperate to have sex.
  • Many of them were NOT interested in getting to know you.
  • Poor communication skills.
  • They cannot carry a conversation.
  • Each message had a 12-hour gap between them.

September 07, 2020

September 2020

There has been no new development with coronavirus situation. It feels like stalemate but with an invisible opponent. We still have adults infected and infecting others. Even though wearing a mask is now mandatory, many people are not wearing it right: a) only covering the mouth b) taking it off in confined spaces such as a tram and c) taking it off to talk on a mobile phone. Now we are seeing people who display no infectious symptoms are infectious.

August 03, 2020

August 2020

The climate to date is more or less the same, just with additional movement restrictions, where activities cannot be conducted beyond 5km and a curfew between 8pm-5am. I have informed my friends and family members that Stage 4 lockdown will take effect as of Sunday 2nd August, 6pm. Many didn't take it well. Sad as it is, the reality is the number of new cases are sitting in the 600s and not really going down like the first Stage 3 lockdown. Majority of it stems from Aged care facilities staff, low wage casual staff who come to work unwell, and large social gatherings (e.g. house parties). Apparently, those who were infected and waiting on test results failed to remain home and get well. This lead to more community transmission.

WFH

Besides lots of Zoom meetings, the librarians and I have being working on a video series with stories that was once an Ask-a-Librarian inquiry. I am learning to create stories to be shared on YouTube. I have sourced a fair few resources such as sound effect. Adjust the sound to background level was a bit of a learning curve. I did not know iMovie does not have a sound equaliser.

PoGo.

We all do remote raids these days. The most popular one is Gible T1 raids. I am learning to create multiple lobbies. Where you invite 5 players to the lobby and once they are in, I leave and wait 200 seconds, then create another lobby and invite another 5 players. One gotta skill up during these times and be more resourceful.

Remote raid is not so bad. I learned to created multiple lobbies for people. With the current state of affairs and the rate of egg hatches, one hour is not enough to find your ideal raid boss, let alone defeat it. This is the new norm.

There needs to be status to give people an indicator you are busy in another raid or catching the raid boss.

I have started to cull the list of players who do not send gifts or send raid invites. Exception of trading is not possible these days due to restriction to movement.

Falling to the wayside. I need to get back on the horse.

July 2020

We had more outbreaks during the ease of lockdown restriction compared to the beginning of the lockdown. Partially has to do with the fact it is winter now. Although, the most shocking news was families were not practising social distancing at all. So, we are starting to hear more and more the term community transmission daily. Sad. People should take this pandemic seriously and take every precaution necessary. We now have 12 suburbs in lockdown and two in hard lockdown (one with housing commission residents).

My sister and I wear a mask in dense human-populated areas such as shopping malls, supermarket, public transport, and day time in the city.

Meanwhile, at home, my brother has resigned from his job, citing a conflict of pay and workload. He is bored. The house needs repairing, but he is not interested in fixing it. He wants to start up a coffee shop during the lockdown period. My reply was, most people cannot leave the house unless it falls under the four activities, and the government can enforce the closure of non-essential businesses. I don't know if this is the best time to be running a coffee shop, especially when he doesn't wake up to have lunch unless it is 3 pm. Generally speaking in most cities people have their coffees in the morning.

PoGo wise. We have lots of new exciting events to celebrate the fourth year of Pokemon Go release. I can't believe it. I have been playing this game for four years! Time flies when you are having fun. So many new friends, so many new milestones. Together we morally support each other to get through this pandemic and adjust our playstyle in compliance with government restrictions.

I find myself fasting more than usual. I need to learn to eat at regular times again. My family members have gotten in the habit of having waking up in the afternoon and having lunch at 3 pm. Besides the fact, it is not healthy. My body doesn't like it. I get hungry and dizzy if I don't eat some protein by 1 pm. I now keep cans of tuna and protein bars in my room.

June 2020

People are so willing to bend over backwards for love, even when the person no longer loves them anymore. People are strange and I hate wasting my brain space on them. However, this time one of them tried to fuck up my game during in my leisure time and a day before community day. Which only comes around once a month!

My mood became foul and my anger would not subside for days. I'll explain below.

This nearly turned out to be the third worst community day for me. Generally, a day before the community day, I would like to go out and stock up on resources. I would collect 1200 red poke balls for SuiGunesis and 1000 ultra balls and 150 berries for myself. However, I didn’t get a chance to do that! Someone held the account ransom for her ex-boyfriend who may or may not show up at her doorstep.

Let’s fuck up her mood before community day. It is just a shit pokemon with a shiny version.

I only get to play a few hours a night, as I work from home, and there are no poke stops nearby, so I have no choice, but to go out in the evenings and collect resources to play at home.

Let’s make sure she can’t earn gold coins from daily task and gyms.

On top of that raids ends at 8 pm every day for the last four years. I explained to her. Nowadays, to earn your 20 gold coins, you have to “win a raid” unless it is a day where you do not have to, but this day was not one of them. You are holding the account ransom so I cannot help it earn 20 gold coins. Is that what you want? Do you even know how to play Pokemon Go? In the end, I managed to do 15 mins of play - raid only.

You adore me, show me and give all your legendaries.

No lucky trades transaction take 4 hours to complete. At most, they only take 2 minutes. Every player is to negotiate what they are exchanging in messaging apps before meeting up in person. Well, this person refuses to follow the community of players’ protocol. It pissed me off.

They didn't carry out the lucky trade in the end, because I had done the special trade that very day. O’duh. Hence, why players booked such trade session.

Kick her while she is down.

The guy does not understand lucky trade is not a once-off. You can trigger it again and again. Also, it is not limited to legionaries and shines. You can trade normal/rare spawns and regional (provided you had one previously). The ex-boyfriend stated the non-legendaries pokemon were a load of trash. Ugh. Excuse me?! Deino and Gibles are NOT trash.

I didn’t come home until 1 am. I was so mad at them both. The two years that I have spent on that account was a waste of time. After much thought, I have decided to forgo the pokemon go account. It is not worth the hassle.

-----------------------------

On the actual day itself I had to leave the house early to collect resources. No sleep in for me. My friends and I had a good time catching weedle. We wanted pvp IV ones for great league and a hundo for ultra league.

The very first shiny I got from incense had decent pvp IV on it. I was so stoked. I drank hot chocolate while looking for the 0% weedle. It despawned before I got there. Oh well. I found a Chansey, but Blissey despawned before I can reach it.

While having a light meal with Michelle we traded some pokemon and I got a hundo Weedle. Omg! Feeling so blessed.

26 shinies.
4 decent pvp IV ones
1 hundo

What a day.

----------------------------

Work wise, we are given the option to come into work on designated days, however, if you do not have a desk shift, it is best you work from home was the recommendation. I do not have desk shifts until 27th June. I will see what protocol are to be followed now that the government has made new restrictions on the amount of people per square metre.

I am learning to be a moderator for showcases and webinars. How interesting.

May 2020

Cabin fever anyone?

Working from home has become my new norm. Most mornings the draft wafts in through the house and causing me to feel sick, but by the afternoon I am fine. Strange. At the same, it has taken my body a while to get into the routine of waking early again and attend meetings on time. You can get a bit lazy when working in your pyjamas.

Meanwhile, I have been doing an online course on genealogy: researching your family history through University of Strathclyde. I have discovered professional practices in the field of family history research.

It starts with thinking about why records were created and by whom, and who existed depended on time period you are seeking, and what was documented and for how long. After that who does take over the ownership? Lots of questions. However, once you got that thinking style down pat, you perform better when researching records, that may or may not exist. I tend to seeking indexes before going to specialise databases. Not everything is online, but you can access staff and get help from them.

GPS is not about navigation in family history research, instead it stands for Genealogical Proof Standard, and there is a 200 page book on it too. Which I will pouring over it for next few weeks since I have finished the course. The homework were reasonable and the quizzes were good challenges. I feel my foundation knowledge of family research is developing quite nicely now.

Onto leisure, I have ventured out to parks that are new to me, and they are beautiful. Of course, the playground and gym areas have been cordon off. I would visit these parks on weekends and after medical appointments to give myself a bit of green therapy. I would play a round of Pokemon Go.

Many of the players in my community asks, "how can you go outside and not get fined?" Yes, we are advised to only go out under 4 main activities and I do go out on my own to medical appointments, exercise, and supplies (mostly medicine due to recent accidents). Pokemon Go is not my main activity, it is more or less a subsidiary activity that runs parallel to the four main activities. I only go out if I am 100% fit or 90% fit with a stubbed toe/hyper-sensitive teeth. I make sure I have nothing contagious that could harm anyone.

It is interesting to hear people thought the government would fine them for stepping outside of their house just to get to letter box. That is absurd and I don't think we have such a intense surveillance at this point in time. At parks, I see people jog, ride bike, play footy, and have picnics together. Um? No one has gone up to them to give a spot fine. So, ... where did this fear stem from? This is Australia, not Asia or Europe. Every city have different lockdown measures and we need to adhere to them accordingly. There must be a spread of misinformation going on within society. As for I, I only read official documents.

Onto mobile gaming, Niantic has does a splendid job of adding features for Pokemon Go housebound players. Your buddy will now fetch you gifts to give to friends and fetch poke balls on community day. Incense will now last an hour and has increase spawns. Allowing you catch more pokemon while at home. Also, you can remote raid from home, if you reside near gym. However, you will need to coordinate T5 raids as that requires 4 to 5 people at the very least.

When people reach old age they are consumed with regrets. Instead of regret it once, it is habitually becoming a daily occurence for some people. They are so unsatisfied with their current state of affairs. Me? No regrets. I did what I set out to do. It is called achieveable goals. I don’t like chasing unattainable goals. Why do people torture themselves?

The lockdown has made people stir crazy. They break traffic laws, ill mannered, and spreading lots of accusations. No you got the virus, no you got the virus. Ugh. When are self testing kit going to be made available?

April 18, 2020

April 2020

The cold chill has kick in and my gutter cannot handle the heavy rain coming down on the house.

We are now onto the second month of Stage 3 lockdown. Where you are only out if it falls under the four activities: shopping for supplies, medical appointment, work, or education if necessary. Otherwise be fined $1625.

Currently, there is no vaccine to date and no exit strategy. One thing that has changed is non-Asians have come to wear masks while they are out and about. At least, they stopped being judgemental towards Asians who do wear a mask.

Meanwhile, I have been working from home for a while now. I only go out for exercise and shopping. We have to go back and forth to get supplies since supermarkets have restricted purchases one to two basic items only. This is due to the panic bulk buying that took place earlier in March 2020. My MacAir has been a work horse since mid March. It does everything from answering enquiries to video chats with work colleagues.

I have come to appreciate my local parks more. However, I cannot be out there for long periods of time. I do try to keep in touch with all my friends just so they don't feel left out. This lockdown is a form of isolation or prison like living for single people who live alone and kicked out of a job, because their employer cannot afford to hold onto the staff during this lockdown period.

People who have corona virus have been found to still have it even after 14 days and after recovery if they have received treatment. This containment method only serves to slow down the spread of it, but it doesn't get rid of it.
