Who knew energy suppliers, especially electricity retailers can switch you over to them without your consent, just add salt the wound Click Energy decided to create a non-existent account holder just to hold my NMI ransom, while I get wrongful disconnection and have to personally rectify the issue or face a $500 termination bill from R.Energy. As if I would give in that easily. The matter has been reported to the ombudsman (EVOV). Through consultation with other parties involved in setting up the smart meter, did I learn of the brief details of the so called account holder. With that information I suspected it as the new tenant, the new tenant confessed he did sign up to Click Energy recently, but they did not ask for the serial number or the NMI from him, and only needed a street address to be sufficient; no consent was required from previous account holder either. Well, that is blantant wrong and malpractice, you do not randomly select an address from the system, despite you could not find one that was given to you over the phone. How callous of Click Energy to do so. Worst yet. Despite the tenant rang Click Energy, they deflected the issue, and replied the account holder was in fact, a different person at a different address, but thanked him for calling. Too bad, it is not a criminal offence in Australia for stealing smart meter serial numbers and fraudulently setup an account. Those sales representative who goes around stealing information to meet their sales quota for these electricity retailers - are scammers.
