May 2011

Winter snap came early this year! Brr.

Adelaide was spacious and empty. I cannot understand why many immigrants refuse to live there, besides the fact shops close at 5pm and many eatery are not open on the weekend. The Visitor Information Centre was closed on weekends too. There many parks. One even had paddle boats for rent, I highly recommend Elders park and Adelaide-Himeji Garden. Free city bus loop and free tram ride on the inner stops listed on the map. It felt like what Melbourne was 10 years ago. Where the city was empty of crowds and suburbs were idyllic as a country side. Adelaide is more of a small population town than a city. On top of its main train station is a casino. The only main entertainment spot for the city citizens at late hours. However, you can find gems, like Button Bar in Adelaide Arcade.

Barossa Valley's Gawler is like metropolitan city in the country side of South Australia. Tanunda was vast and beautiful. No one ride horses much around here. Everyone just drives their car. We depended on the Visitor Information Centre for assistance. They have lovely staff but since all of them drives a car, they fail to point us to the relevant buses available and alternative bike hire businesses in town. So we ended up taking a taxi from Gawler to Tanunda. Mountain bikes from Tanunda to Maggie Beer's Farm Shop. We were very luck to come across Barossa Bike Hire's Miss K, she gave a lift to Maggie Beer's Farm Shop, since my sister bruised herself while trying to learn to ride a mountain bike on country roads with trucks going at 80 k/ph. Miss K even recommended us a quick way back to Adelaide via wonderful LinkSA bus service. Now if only the Visitor Information Centre had point us in the right direction, my sister would not end up so badly hurt. The miracle thing was we got the chance to meet Maggie Beer in person and made it a great day. All the products in the Farm Shop was open to free tasting. All of them were delicious. I wish I could take all of them home with me. The birds on display in the farm were by the far, the prettiest I have ever seen. Some looked exotic. There were peacocks jumping about the farm and car park. We sure snapped up a great of pics on them.

Glenelg is like Lorne very empty in winter season, not bustling like the advertisements that boast about it. The Bay Discovery Centre upstairs was well organised and lots of interactive material for tourists. The Top of the World Revolving Restaurant had beautiful views and delicious high tea. We could not finish off the desserts. We were too full; such a waste to not devour some morsel. The restaurant could break into an observation deck and bar.

Forget work. I need to rethink organise side projects, well, beside house repairs which are just never ending. Mwah ha ha. I thought to myself before doing any side projects I need to add routine exercise to increase strength and flexibility  first. Reviewed ways to motivate myself. So far I have this:

[1] Find good videos to follow and add as favourites;
[2] Add photo of moves to complete in sequence on smartphone;
[3] Stretch your limbs wherever you happen to be and do it through out the day;
[4] Try intense exercise for 10 minutes non-stop and move to 40 minutes;
[5] Record work out completes on app;
[6] Look for inspirational things to motivate oneself too.

In addition, revitalise my knowledge on keyboard short cuts. We got to minimise wrist injury. While keeping the brain active.
